fuckyeahdisneyland:

disneyparksfacts:

In the 1960’s, the women would float around, or sit on the rocks happily greeting guests to the 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Submarine Voyage. Unfortunately, this didn’t last long. Rumors say that Disney had to get rid of the beautiful mermaids because men would willingly jump into the lagoon and try swimming out to them. While there is no actual proof that this ever happened, (although it could have) the main reason the mermaids left their lagoon was due to the gasoline that the submarines would let out when they made their rounds. It was harmful to the women, and damaged their skin and hair and could have also caused other discomforts, so that was the end of that.

You have no idea how much I wish they still had mermaids at the park! It would be cool if they brought them back, as long as all the health and safety issues got taken care of! #disneylandmermaids2012

Cinderella’s gown is extravagant but Ariel will always be my favorite Disney princess. <3
